The 52-year-old broadcaster tweeted a photograph taken of a magazine that hinted he had quit the show.
It read: “Has Piers quit? Susanna’s shock at cryptic hints.”
Enjoying the speculation surrounding his highly coveted early morning job, Piers tweeted: “Have I?”
The journalist is currently taking a summer break from the show along with Susanna Reid, with their last day in the ITV studio taking place last month.
Kicking off his final show of the summer, Piers Morgan beamed: “Look at this face, happy face. I’m never getting out of bed at 3.45am ever again. Never again.”
Later, Susanna, added: “You know you said the early starts are killing you and you’re finding it really hard,” before she was cut short.
Piers’ comments come after he told viewers that his last episode before his holiday could be the last time viewers ever see him grace the Good Morning Britain sofa.
At the time, he told viewers: “It’s our last day tomorrow before we break up for the summer. So last chance to see us, possibly ever.”
Susanna looked stunned by the remark, and even tweeted her surprise shortly afterwards: “Last show together tomorrow before the summer @gmb. ‘Possibly ever’ says @piersmorgan.”
Several guest presenters have filled the slot while the duo relax and unwind.
This Morning host Eamonn Holmes returned to the show, before Jeremy Kyle took over the reigns.
Has Piers quit for good? Only time will tell.
