Wilshere looks increasingly likely to leave Arsenal after being omitted from the squad that helped the Gunners beat Leicester 4-3 on Friday.
The England international was once touted as a future Arsenal captain by manager Arsene Wenger.
But, after a mixed campaign on loan at Bournemouth, an exit this month looks to be on the cards.
Serie A giants Sampdoria have been touted as a potential destination for him, while Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and West Ham have also been tipped to secure a summer swoop.
However, The Sun claims Rafa Benitez wants to bring him to Tyneside this transfer window.
The Spaniard is known to be frustrated with Newcastle’s lack of business so far, something that has forced club owner Mike Ashley to speak out on.
Yet Benitez feels he can land Wilshere who, in an added bonus, thinks his Arsenal career is over.
Wenger said his absence on Friday was merely down to an injury – a believable excuse given the 25-year-old’s current club record.
But the midfielder has reportedly told friends he is fit to play.
“Jack is fit. He is raring to go but has not been included in the squad,” they said.
“Wenger told the public that he isn’t ready but Jack is feeling in top condition.”
Wilshere would love to stay at Arsenal but, after being snubbed for the Leicester game, thinks a move away now the likeliest option.
