Coutinho was previously Liverpool’s No1 set-piece taker for the Reds before he joined Barcelona last weekend in a deal worth £142million.

The Brazilian hit five goals from dead-ball situations during his Anfield career.

Van Dijk, meanwhile, who joined the Merseyside outfit in a £75m deal at the beginning of the month, is handy at free-kicks too.

And when asked by Reds legend Jamie Carragher whether he will be put on free-kick duty now Coutinho has left, Van Dijk was quite dismissive.

“That’s not my decision!,” Van Dijk told Sky Sports

“There are plenty of good takers I think.

“The thing is, I just want to keep clean sheets, win games, be important for the club.

“My main focus is to not concede, organise well.”

Liverpool will be hoping to stop Manchester City in their tracks when Pep Guardiola’s men visit Anfield tomorrow (4pm).

The Reds currently occupy fourth spot, while City are 15 points clear of nearest challengers Manchester United at the top of the Premier League table.
