The France international was highly coveted by Manchester United ahead of the last transfer window.
But any potential deal was cancelled when Atletico’s appeal over a transfer ban was refused, leaving the La Liga club unable to bring in a replacement.
And Griezmann announced via a statement at the time that he would not leave the club with them not able to sign another striker.
However, he is expected to move on 2018 with United still linked with a move for the forward.
He currently has a £90million release clause in his contract but would still attract plenty of interest from some of Europe’s elite clubs.
And Barcelona have reportedly moved one step ahead of their rivals by already agreeing personal terms with the Frenchman.
That’s according to French outlet Le 10 Sport, who claim Griezmann has accepted contract terms presented by Barcelona ahead of a potential move next year.
Griezmann recently distanced himself away from rumours suggesting he has been in regular contact with United boss Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese coach is said to still be interested in signing the 26-year-old despite having Romelu Lukaku at his disposal with Zlatan Ibrahimovic still to return from injury.
However, when Griezmann was asked whether he sometimes speaks to Mourinho on the phone, he simply replied: “No”.
