You might already have this beauty essential at home.
We first met Anna Heinrich on the 2013 season of The Bachelor, but four years later (and a cool 315,000 Instagram followers to show for it) the Sydney-based 26-year-old has become a force to be reckoned with in the worlds of beauty in wellness, with official ambassadorships for the likes of Oral B to Pantene, and, unofficially, for fiancé Tim’s fitness program, The Robards Method – a plan she’s following ahead of the couple’s wedding.
Anna tells myBody+Soul that when it comes to her workout schedule – bride-to-be or otherwise – it’s “all about variety.”
“This means I can get a great workout without getting bored, and without things getting too repetitive. I’ll mix it up between a walk with my mum, or with friends, and then jumping on the bikes at Infinite Cycle. Then there’s TRM with Tim. When each of these things become part of your routine, and you’re consistent, it becomes very easy,” she says and makes clear that healthy eating just can’t be overlooked, when it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
“I always start my day off with a green tea and lemon followed by a cappuccino. My first meal of the day is usually at around 11am or midday, and it’s usually two poached eggs, tomato and avocado.
“As an afternoon snack I’ll have either a kale salad with salmon, tuna or chicken, or a little treat like dark chocolate or even a cookie – the café down the road from me has the best cookies!
“And for dinner I have a piece of grilled meat with vegetables or salad, followed by some fruit and/ or yoghurt for dessert,” which sounds like a well-balanced – not to mention, delicious, day on a plate to us. (As we all know – you simply can’t out-train a poor diet.)
For Anna, though, it’s not just her time in the gym – and a nutrition plan to complement it – that she swears by for good health. Recovery, resting and relaxation all play a huge part in making up a well-balanced lifestyle for the Bondi local.
“If you’re going to work out, you need to ensure that your body is up to the job. For recovery, I stretch before and after, I work out, and from time to time I will recover by having a magnesium bath. It helps to relax the muscles and relieves stress. Oh and I live with a chiro, which helps, too!
“For my magnesium baths, I add Epsom salts to my bath,” she says, which can be purchased for your supermarket or chemist for as little as $3.
“These are the perfect way to relieve aches and pains, boost magnesium levels and reduce inflammation,” the newly-named Pantene ambassador says, admitting that when it comes to her beauty must-dos, she keeps it simple. Even before her wedding, she won’t be doing anything “too drastic,” though many brides do.
“I haven’t mixed up my hair routine. What I’m doing is working. I incorporate nourishing hair care products into my daily washing and styling regime, and try to give my hair a break from hot tools when I can. I also use a mask for some extra TLC every few weeks.
“[In general though] I’m very conscious of what I put on my skin and into my body. I’m not a facial girl, so I’ve been working with Clear & Brilliant lasers to get my ‘glow’ ready,” which we’re sure, combined with her nutritionist-approved diet and regular workouts, will give that lit-from-within look on the big day – whenever that may be.
