The East Lonodn mosque confirmed that it had evacuated its members after they received a bomb threat.
East London Mosque tweeted: “The Mosque received a telephone threat a short while ago. Buildings were evacuated and sweeps carried out by Police and Mosque staff.
“While we understand this incident to be a hoax, we still urge vigilance in our community.”
The police are on scene carrying out an investigation.
Meanwhile, pictures on social media show a group of men gathering outside a building.
The Metropolitan police confirmed that they were called to a mosque at 2.50pm today.
A Met police spokesman said there were no injuries and the bomb threat, was a hoax.
