CHELSEA TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: Latest updates as Blues eye Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo
Antonio Conte reportedly wants six new signings at Chelsea this summer as he prepares for Champions League football next season.
The Evening Standard claim Chelsea are hopeful of finalising moves for Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.
While Chelsea are said to have already agreed terms with goalkeeper Willy Caballero, who is available on a free following his departure from Manchester City.
Conte is also desperate to sign a new centre-back, with Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk and Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci on his wishlist.
And another attacking midfielder is also a priority, with Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez being considered after failing to sign Napoli’s Dries Mertens.
11:00: Juventus are reportedly doing all they can to scupper Chelsea’s £60m move for wing-back Alex Sandro.
Chelsea are able to offer the Brazilian improved wages, potentially doubling the 26-year-old’s current salary in Italy.
According to the Evening Standard though, Juventus have made a last-minute attempt to keep Sandro at the club.
The Brazilian earns £75,000 a week at present, with the Blues ready to hand him £150,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.
Juventus cannot compete with those figures, although are said to have tabled a new £100,000-a-week deal.
It is claimed Sandro is keen on joining Chelsea, but the Serie A giants will see if they can convince him to snub a move to London.
10:10: Express Sport understand Chelsea will go back with an improved £60million offer for Alex Sandro in the next few days and Juventus are resigned to the deal being done if he is guaranteed improved wages.
The Blues had seen a £52m bid for the Brazilian left-back turned down last week but the 26-year-old remains a top target for Antonio Conte.
Sandro is on around £75,000-a-week at Juventus, a figure Chelsea can easily improve on, and the defender has been told his club will not stand in his way if he makes it clear he wants to go.
Chelsea also face competition from Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain but manager Conte is determined to get his man.
9:35: Former Chelsea boss and player Roberto Di Matteo admits the Blues may never replace John Terrry after he left the club at the end of the season.
He told The Mirror: “It’s going to take a bit of time for somebody to step in and take that kind of role.
“I’m not sure if ever somebody will be able to do so, but certainly taking on the captaincy role and being that important for the team.”
9:00: Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to soothe over tensions with Antonio Conte by signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
Express Sport can exclusively reveal Abramovich is willing to do anything to keep Conte at the club.
And Ronaldo could be the perfect antidote to Chelsea’s striker problems, with Conte determined to sell Diego Costa this summer.
It is understood Russian billionaire Abramovich could even use long-term Real target Eden Hazard as a makeweight in a deal to sign Portugal star Ronaldo.
